The Hanoi–Quang Ninh High-Speed Railway is a planned railway from Hanoi to Ha Long in Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam. The railway was proposed by Vingroup, and it’s a separate railway from the abandoned Ha Long Railway.
The new Hanoi–Quang Ninh high-speed line will be approximately 120 km in length and have a top speed of 350 km/h, with an investment of US$5.4 billion.
Vingroup has formed a railway subsidiary, Vinspeed, and has partnered with Siemens to develop the high-speed railway. Vinspeed is also building a high-speed railway in Ho Chi Minh City (Ben Thanh-Can Gio), though they have withdrawn their bid to build the North-South high-speed railway.
Vingroup is one of the largest real estate developers in Vietnam, and the Quang Ninh HSR will serve Vingroup’s Ha Long Xanh urban area project in Quang Ninh province. Ha Long Bay is also one of the most visited tourist sites in Vietnam, so the railway will improve connectivity from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay.
