Ba Ria – Vung Tau is a province in the Southeast region of Vietnam. The province is the closest beach resort area to Ho Chi Minh City, with the Ho Tram – Binh Chau Sea Resort Route being the most developed area.

The bulk of the development activity is happening Xuyen Moc District. This stretch of coast has already seen hotels, resorts, and a casino open up, and more resorts are planned. There are also proposals for an airport and a railway.
This article covers the cities and districts of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province that border the coast of the East Sea. All of the projects listed here are in geographical order, starting from Vung Tau City and heading up the coast. I have also added some local news stories, though many of them read like undisclosed press releases.

Vung Tau City
Vung Tau City is a popular seaside getaway from Ho Chi Minh City. The Back Beach area comes alive on the weekend as Saigonese weekenders descend for a beach break from city life.
I have been keeping track of Vung Tau developments at Future Vung Tau.
Long Dien district
Long Dien district includes the coastal town of Long Hai. The beach is used by small fishing boats, and there is a resort area at the eastern end of the beach. Long Hai has the distinction of being the closest beach to Ho Chi Minh City by road (Vung Tau City is geographically closer but further to drive).
Charm Resort Long Hai

Charm Resort Long Hai is at the end of Long Hai Beach, just before the coast road rounds the corner for the Dat Do and Xuyen Moc. Charm Resort Long Hai marks the start of the resorts along the Ba Ria – Vung Tau coastline.

Dat Do district
After Long Dien district is Dat Do district. The Minh Dam Mountain marks the start of the coastal road, and the Phuoc Hai fishing town is along this stretch of coast.
There are not as many hotels in this district, but it includes a proposed airport that would serve the Ho Tram tourist area.
Oceanami Villas & Beach Club
Location: Phuoc Hai, Dat Do district, Ba Ria – Vung Tau.

Oceanami is at the southern end of Dat Do district where the coastal road passes around Minh Dam Mountain from Long Hai.

Dat Do Airport
Location: Loc An commune and Lang Dai commune, Dat Do district, Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.
Dat Do Airport is a project proposed by Ho Tram Project Company Limited. The airport would be built to serve A320 aircraft and equivalent (airport class 4C) and military airport level II.

Xuyen Moc district
Most of the coastal developments are in Xuyen Moc district. This coast is often referred to as Ho Tram, though the village of Ho Tram is only a small part of the coast.

The coastal road has also been referred to in local media as the Ho Tram – Binh Chau million dollar resort route.

Vietsovpetro is a Russia-Vietnam Joint Venture based in Vung Tau City. The JV is an oil and gas exploration company, and the resort was built by this company.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau coastal railway
Ba Ria-Vung Tau announced plans for 3 urban rail lines. Route 2 would connect Vung Tau city to Binh Chau via the coast.
