Three urban railway lines are planned by Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, including the route on the coastal road and surrounding the inner city of Vung Tau city; Inner-suburban route between Vung Tau city and Long Hai town of Long Dien district and Metro line connecting Vung Tau – Ba Ria – Phu My – Long Thanh.

Ba Ria - Vung Tau plans to plan three urban railway lines

According to the draft planning of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province for the period of 2021 – 2030, with a vision to 2050, the province proposes to invest in the construction of three urban railways, including two monorail lines and one metro line.

Route 1 will operate mainly on the coastal road and surround the inner city of Vung Tau city. The route starts at the junction of Tran Phu – Le Loi – Nguyen An Ninh streets along Nguyen An Ninh – Thuy Van – Ha Long – Quang Trung – Tran Phu – Tran Phu – Le Loi junctions. Total length is about 20 km.

This is the route that serves the most travel needs of tourists coming to the beach, walking on the beach. The topography along the route length is basically favorable for the arrangement of rails because the elevation is not much different, except for two major slope points between Thuy Van and Ha Long streets. Depot is located at the intersection of Tran Phu – Le Loi – Nguyen An Ninh streets, 3,700 m2 wide; The second depot is shared with line 2 at the intersection of 2/9 street, 6,000 m2 wide.

Route 2 is the inner-suburban route between Vung Tau city and Long Hai town of Long Dien district. The route starts at Le Hong Phong Roundabout, following road 3/2 (road 51C) – intersection of 2/9 intersection (road 51B) – crossing Cua Lap bridge – coastal road DT 994 – Binh Chau.

The route length is about 65 km. This is the main travel route for tourists between Vung Tau city and Long Hai town of Long Dien district.

When tourism develops strongly, it is possible to continue extending route 2 by about 25 km, following the coastal road (DT 994) through Phuoc Hai tourist area of Dat Do district, to the amusement park – resort – tourist area. Ho Tram calendar in Xuyen Moc district. Depot at the beginning of the route (common with line 1) at the intersection of 2/9 street, 6,000 m2 wide; a depot at the end of the line in Phuoc Hai town, 4,000 m2.

Line 3 is a metro line connecting Vung Tau – Ba Ria – Phu My – Long Thanh. According to the development orientation of Phu My, Ba Ria, Vung Tau and Long Dien regions, they will become the driving force of the province and connect to the western urban axis.

In the future, when the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau expressway, Ring 4, and Bien Hoa – Vung Tau railways are completed, it is possible to consider expanding the median strip to develop urban railways along National Highway 51.

Due to the relatively large construction cost, in the first stage to develop tourism in Vung Tau and serve industrial zones and urban areas along National Highway 51, it is necessary to consider investing in high-quality passenger trains, with high speed, on Bien Hoa – Vung Tau railway route first, in order to connect the province with Long Thanh airport, Ho Chi Minh City, etc. via Thu Thiem – Long Thanh railway (specialized railway for passenger transport) and high-speed railway Thu Thiem – Nha Trang.

Besides the three urban railway lines, for the national railway planning in the province, Ba Ria – Vung Tau plans the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau railway as one of the arterial traffic items of the province. Ria – Vung Tau, the total length of the route is 84 km of double traffic, connecting at Trang Bom station through the bypass Bien Hoa – Vung Tau (Trang Bom – Di An).

Bien Hoa – Vung Tau railway is a national railway passing through Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, with a gauge of 1,435 mm, of which the Bien Hoa – Thi Vai section is a double track; Thi Vai – Vung Tau section is a single road.

In addition, according to the national railway network planning in the region, there is also a railway line from Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc through Binh Duong and Dong Nai connecting to the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau railway, facilitating inter-connection. connecting Ba Ria – Vung Tau with the western provinces of the Southeast region.
