Pattaya Station Redevelopment: High-speed railway and mixed-use project

March 6, 2023 By James Clark Leave a Comment

Pattaya Station Redevelopment

Pattaya Station and the surrounding area will be redeveloped as part of the High-Speed Rail Linking Three Airports Project.

Pattaya Station is on the Ban Phlu Ta Luang Main Line of the Eastern Line. The Ban Phlu Ta Luang Main Line is a metre-gauge railway operated with diesel locomotives, while the high-speed railway will be a standard-gauge electric railway. The redeveloped station will have elevated platforms for the high-speed line, and the metre-gauge railway will remain for freight use.

The current train from Bangkok to Pattaya takes from 2h 29m (express) to 3h 40m (ordinary). The high-speed railway will be able to get from Bangkok to Pattaya in under an hour.

In addition to the new elevated station, 900 rai (1.44 square km) of land surrounding the station is planned to be developed into a mixed-use project (condominiums and retail stores). This would be one of the biggest new developments in Pattaya.

The station will be connected to central Pattaya by a light rail or monorail line to Bali Hai Pier.
