Ngoc Hoi Railway Station is the proposed Hanoi station for the North-South high-speed railway of Vietnam. The station complex will be a transport hub for the high-speed railway, national railways, and the Hanoi Metro.
The Ngoc Hoi site is approximately 10 km south of Hanoi Railway Station on a site covering about 171ha. The land will also be used as a depot for the urban railway.
The current rail corridor from Hanoi Railway Station to Ngoc Hoi will be replaced by Line 1 of the Hanoi Metro (Long Biên Line (L)). Line 1 will run from Yen Vien to Ngọc Hồi via Long Bien and Hanoi railway station (removing the trains from Hanoi Train Street).
There were calls from transport experts to keep the terminal station at the current Hanoi Railway Station in central Hanoi. After considering extending the high-speed railway to the current Hanoi Railway Station, it was decided that national rail routes will not traverse the centre of Hanoi. Passengers on the high-speed railway will transfer at Ngoc Hoi to Line 1 of the Hanoi Metro to continue the journey to central Hanoi.
