Line 2 Hanoi Metro: Connecting the airport to the old city

Line 2 (Hoan Kiem Line) of the Hanoi Metro is a proposed rapid transit railway that will connect Noi Bai International Airport to the old city area in Hoan Kiem District.

Line 2 will be 42 km in length with 32 stations and 2 depots. The line will be build in 4 phases:

Phase 1: Nam Thang Long – Tran Hung Dao: 11.5 km (8.9 km underground and 2.6 km on surface), 10 stations (7 underground, 3 elevated).
Phase 2: Tran Hung Dao – Thuong Dinh: 5.9 km underground.
Phase 3: Thuong Dinh – Ring road 2.5 – Hoang Quoc Viet
Phase 4: Noi Bai Airport – Nam Thang Long: 12.5 km.

Line 2 will pass the east side of Hoan Kiem Lake. The project was delayed while the city decided where to place Hoan Kiem Station in this historic area. The line will also pass through the new government administrative area in West Lake West.
