Future Rayong

March 8, 2022 By James Clark Leave a Comment

U-Tapao Airport City

Rayong is a province in eastern Thailand, and it is one of the three provinces of the Eastern Economic Corridor (along with Chachoengsao and Chonburi).

Rayong Province is home to U-Tapao Airport, and the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate in Rayong is Thailand’s largest petrochemical and heavy industry park.

The province includes some beach resort areas, and Koh Samet is also part of Rayong. There is a proposal to build a high-speed rail to Rayong City, which could put the beaches of Rayong on the radar of visitors from Bangkok.

Here are some of the construction, transport, and infrastructure projects planned for Rayong.

U-Tapao Airport in Rayong Province is branded as U-Tapao–Rayong–Pattaya International Airport due to its proximity to Pattaya. It will also be an unofficial third Bangkok airport when it is connected to the Don Mueang–Suvarnabhumi–U-Tapao High-Speed Railway. There are plans to expand the airport alongside the Eastern Airport City Project.
