The Thu Thiem – Long Thanh Line is a proposed metro line connecting Ho Chi Minh City to the under-construction Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province.
The line begins at the planned central railway station at Thu Thiem in Thu Duc City. The proposed route of the 41.8 km line (11.7 km in HCMC and 30.8 km in Dong Nai) is Ring Road 3, Dong Nai River, Provincial Road 25B (Dong Nai) Long Thanh District (underground), and Long Thanh International Airport.
This is a separate project to the proposed Hanoi-HCMC high-speed railway, which also goes from Thu Thiem to Long Thanh International Airport. The light rail will run via a different route to the high-speed railway.
The Thu Thiem Station site is located about 7km from Ben Thanh Market in District 1. Line 2 of the HCMC Metro is planned to be extended from Ben Thanh Station to Thu Thiem, but this is the second stage and the first stage hasn’t begun construction yet. Passengers arriving at Thu Thiem have to make their own way to District 1.
The Thu Thiem – Long Thanh Line could possibly interchange with the proposed Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Railway.
