Thu Thiem Theater project restarted

In which, the Symphony, Music, and Dance Theater project in Thu Thiem new urban area (referred to as Thu Thiem Theater) is one of 18 programs, works, and projects in the field of culture and society approved invest in this occasion. The investment project to build the Symphony, Music and Dance Theater of Ho Chi Minh City was formed three decades ago. In 2017, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City decided to choose the Thu Thiem area as the location to build the theater and the project is expected to be completed in 2022. However, for many reasons, the project was not carried out according to the expected plan. .

One year ago, in August 2022, the Ho Chi Minh City government temporarily suspended investment in the Thu Thiem Theater Project to prioritize investment capital for social security issues and stimulate development of industries after the COVID-19 epidemic. 19.

The project is built on a land area of ​​about 20.3 hectares, located next to the banks of the Saigon River, with an investment capital of more than 1,508 billion VND.

At the end of July 2020, Ho Chi Minh City organized a competition to select architectural design plans for Thu Thiem Theater. The contest had representatives of 12 domestic and foreign design consulting units participating and ended in October 2020. However, up to the time the city suspended the Theater investment project, the Organizing Committee had not yet announced the results of the competition.
