On July 4, Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee approved the proposal of the Department of Transport of this province on the starting and ending points of the urban railway connecting Chu Lai airport and Da Nang airport. (MRT line).

According to the People’s Committee of Quang Nam province, in order to further promote the efficiency of the urban railway, it is necessary to study additional alignments in combination with the urban development model (TOD – Transit Oriented Development) to connect the chain of urban areas. Dien Ban – Hoi An – Duy Hai, Duy Nghia – Binh Minh – Tam Ky – Nui Thanh.

At the same time, review, evaluate and propose solutions for tourist railway (LRT line) connecting Truong Sa road (Da Nang city) to (Hoi An city).

The People’s Committee of Quang Nam province assigned the Department of Transport to assume the prime responsibility for, and work with the Department of Construction, the People’s Committee of Dien Ban town, the People’s Committee of Hoi An city, Tam Ky city, Duy Xuyen, Thang Binh and Nui Thanh districts to urgently finalize the proposed plan. 2 urban railway lines MRT and LRT to advise the Provincial People’s Committee before July 12, 2023, and submit to the competent authorities for comments before integrating the proposal into the Quang Nam Provincial Planning document for the period of 2021-2030. look to 2050.

Previously, the Department of Transport had sent a document to propose the urban railway route planning to connect the two airports of Da Nang and Chu Lai.

In this document, the Department of Transport said that according to the approved transport development plan of the province to 2020, with orientation to 2030, there is a master plan for urban railway development with 2 lines.

Specifically, the route connecting Hoi An City with Da Nang City to the east of Co Co River and the route connecting Hoi An with Chu Lai Airport follows the Vietnam coastal road corridor.

However, according to the adjustment file of the general construction planning of Hoi An city (the draft is underway) there will be no urban railway.

At the same time, according to the traffic planning of Da Nang city, there is an urban railway line along Tran Dai Nghia street connecting with Quang Nam (approved by the Prime Minister).

On that basis, the Department of Transport has studied the planning of an urban railway line connecting with Da Nang city along the axis of Tran Dai Nghia street (Da Nang city) into Quang Nam province, following the DT607 axis, the planned road to the east along the river. Vinh Dien, across the Thu Bon River, the road connects National Highway 14H with Vo Chi Cong Street and arrives at Chu Lai Airport along Vo Chi Cong Street.

According to the Quang Nam Department of Transport, this route has been approved by the Da Nang Department of Transport and adjusted according to the opinions of the Department of Construction and localities.
