Cebu Monorail – A 2-line transit system connecting Mactan Cebu Airport to Cebu City

April 26, 2021 By James Clark Leave a Comment

Cebu Monorail

The Cebu Monorail is a proposed 2-line monorail system in Cebu, Philippines.

Cebu was originally studying a proposal to build a light rail transit (LRT) in 2016. The monorail system became the preferred option in 2019 due to the lower cost of construction.

The two lines would total 27 km in length, and it would also include a 5-hectare depot facility near the airport. The monorail will form part of a Cebu transit system that also comprises the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and cable cars, known as the Cebu Integrated And Intermodal Transport System (CIITS).

1. Cebu Central Line

17.7 km elevated monorail with 14 stations.
Route: Banilad to Linao.

2. Cebu Airport Line

9.3 km elevated monorail with 6 stations.
Route: Mactan Cebu International Airport to Country Mall.
