Binh Duong Urban Railway: proposed railway system in Binh Duong Province

Binh Duong Urban Railway is a proposed railway system in Binh Duong Province, north of Ho Chi Minh City. 7 railway lines have been proposed (6 overhead lines and 1 ground line) and 3 lines will connect to lines of the HCMC Metro.

The railway was announced on June 11, 2014 on the document Prime Minister’s Decision 893/QD-TTg (Adjusting the master plan for socio-economic development of Binh Duong province to 2020, supplementing the planning to 2025).

Here is a translation of the section relating to the urban railway system:

Urban railway system: The goal of urban railway development is to solve public passenger transport. Therefore, urban railways must be built in the following directions: One is radiating from Thu Dau Mot urban center – Binh Duong new urban area and the route to Dau Tieng, with 6 elevated lines and 1 ground line. as follows:

Line 1: Connecting the new urban center with Suoi Tien Station (the last station of metro line 1 (in Ho Chi Minh City) from Ben Thanh to Suoi Tien is under construction and will be completed in 2018). Route 1 of Binh Duong will go overhead. It is expected that construction will be prioritized for completion before 2020, connecting with Suoi Tien smoothly from the new urban center through the southern regions of Binh Duong and to Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh.

Line 2: From the city. Thu Dau Mot to City. Ho Chi Minh City is a light metro line. The route will go overhead along NH.13 through Vinh Binh (Binh Duong) and connect with metro line 3 (Ho Chi Minh City) at the Binh Phuoc intersection. This line is 24.2 km long and will be built after 2020.

Line 3: Thu Dau Mot New City – My Phuoc – Bau Bang – Long Nguyen. The route is 32.3 km long, connecting the new urban center with the center of South Ben Cat; running overhead, built after 2020.

Line 4: Starting from New City Central Station – Uyen Hung – Tan Thanh. The whole route is 22.3 km long, connecting from the center to the East, going on high, will be built after 2020.

Line 5: Run from Vinh Phu (Thuan An) – Mieu Ong Cu. This route is intended to transport workers in industrial zones and connects with metro No. 4 to the city. Ho Chi Minh; will run overhead, build after 2020.

Line 6: From New City to Vinh Phuoc. The route is 29.6 km long, running overhead, and will be built after 2020.

Line 7: The route from My Phuoc to Dau Tieng, 38.8 km long, is a route running on the ground, will be built after 2020.
