Welcome to the 2026 edition of the Southeast Asia Airports Report. This is a summary of airports planned, under construction, and other airport news in Southeast Asia over the past year.
In addition to keeping track of airport news over the last year, I have made an airport map for every country in Southeast Asia (the maps are listed in the country sections). There are many airports listed here that are not household names, so you can refer to the map to see where it is.

Long Thanh International Airport (LTH) received its first official flight on the 19th of December, which was a day of mass inaugurations in Vietnam. The airport won’t be ready for commercial services until the first half of 2026.
Meanwhile, HCMC still hasn’t started construction of the airport rail link that will connect the airport to the city centre (about 40 km away). The airport is built to alleviate congestion from Tan Son Nhat, but this advantage will be lost if it takes over an hour to drive to the airport.
