The Makassar City Government is preparing a new means of transportation, namely the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Metro Capsule.

This Metro Capsule LRT will later become supporting transportation for the Trans Sulawesi Railway in Makassar City, namely the Metro Capsule.

Where, the Capsule Metro LRT is a feeder train which will be feeder transportation for trains in Makassar City which are planned to be built elevated (floating).

The plan is that the Metro Capsule will be built elevated (floating) and at grade (below). The presence of the Capsule Metro LRT is not only a feeder for trains, but can be a form of transportation that can reach all areas in Makassar City.

The route taken is, starting from Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, Gor Barombong, Somba Opu, Center Point of Indonesia (CPI), Makassar New Port (MNP), Lantebung, Sudiang, BTP, Parangloe, Unhas, Daya, Antang, Balang Tonjong , Hertasning, Rappocini, and back to CPI.

“So with the capsule metro we can go around the city from end to end from east to west. Only after this is finished will I tell you more about the focus,” explained the Mayor of Makassar, Moh Ramdhan Pomanto, Friday (15/3).

Danny Pomanto, his nickname, said that the LRT Metro Capsule is domestically made transportation. “This is the plan, then I will call it because it is made in this country,” said Danny.

Danny continued, this new transportation also has quite cheap development costs. The reason is, the LRT Metro Capsule is smaller than the size of trains in general.

“Metro capsules are small, not like under toll roads. These are cheap, the cheapest now, electric vehicles,” explained Danny.

He said he would go before the Central Government to make a presentation regarding the design of the LRT Metro Kapsul route. “Friends have approached the central government to assist with this and I will present this matter to the Ministry,” concluded Danny. (Shasa/B)
