Batam is an island of Riau Islands province, in the region of Sumatra, Indonesia. Batam is about 20km to the south of Singapore, and its proximity to Singapore has made it an industrial and transport hub.
Batam and the neighbouring Bintan and Karimun islands were designated as a free trade zone in 2009 (the BBK free trade zone), and two Special Economic Zones were approved in 2021.
This article lists some of the projects that are planned and under construction in Batam.

The CitraPlaza Nagoya project is described as a Mega Superblock in the Nagoya neighbourhood of Batam. The project includes apartment towers (39/39/39/45 stories), and a hotel/residences tower of 55 stories. There is room for future expansion.
Opus Bay is a new urban area, described as an urban resort. The project covers 125 hectares with a. sea view looking towards Singapore. The complex will include apartments, villas, medical healthcare, international schools, retail, hotels, and tourist attractions.

“A mega-superblock on a land area of 9 hectares, this multifunctional project will be divided into 4 phases which will encompass 11 skyscrapers consisting of 8 apartment towers totaling 6500 units, 1 hotel, 1 international hospital, a mall, shops and 1 office building with a planned height of 100 floors. For the first phase, 4 apartment towers will be developed with a total of 2590 units, 2-floor mall, and 113 shop units with a total of Semi Gross Floor Area (SGFA) of around 149,387.86m2.”

Venisian Mall (also referred to as Venisian Open Air Mall) is a Venetian-themed mall behind the Meisterstadt project.
One Avenue is a superblock featuring a mall, apartments, hotel, office space, and shop houses. There are 8 tower in total (2 x 16 floors, 5 x 30 floors, 1 x 45 floors).

The Batam-Bintan Bridge is a proposed series of cable-stayed bridges crossing the Riau Strait between Batam and Bintan islands. Construction is scheduled to start in 2022 and is expected to be finished by 2024.
