Updates on construction in Danang, including current and stalled projects in the city and along the coast.
I’ve been a regular visitor to Danang over the last decade, and I have been watching the city’s rapid growth. While tourism numbers are now recovering after the pandemic, numerous big projects around the city have not restarted or have been slow to finish.
After I visited Nha Trang in March 2024, I visited Danang in April 2024. This construction report is a snapshot of major projects in Danang as of April 2024.
Courtyard by Marriott & Marriott Executive Apartments
Address: 58 Bach Dang, Hai Chau District, Da Nang.
The Courtyard by Marriott & Marriott Executive Apartments looks finished from a distance, but this project has been plodding along for years.
The base of the tower is still a construction site and there were workers onsite.
Golden Square
Address: 71 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Da Nang.
The Golden Square project is still abandoned. The project was mentioned in a news article in December 2023, but no explanation is given for why the project has stalled.
Diamond Square
Address: Hung Vuong, Da Nang.
The Diamond Square project (opposite Golden Square) remains an empty lot.
Danang Landmark
The Danang Landmark project includes 2 towers (31-floor and 39-floor) by the river near the Dragon Bridge.
The Royal Boutique Hotel & Condo Danang
The Royal is a hotel and condo tower by the Han River.
Sun Cosmo Residence Da Nang
Sun Cosmo Residence Da Nang is a combination of high-rise apartment towers and commercial townhouses developed by Sun Group next to the Trần Thị Lý Bridge.

Times Square Da Nang
Address: Corner Pham Van Dong and Vo Nguyen Giap.
Times Square Da Nang remains an unfinished eyesore on the beachfront. The concrete shells of the two towers are the tallest unfinished towers in Vietnam.
There is also a smaller tower next to the two towers that remains unfinished. The area behind the towers was also meant to be developed but it is still a construction site.
A report in May 2023 mentioned that the project has been permitted to convert thousands of condotel units into residential apartments.
Wyndham Soleil Danang
Next to Times Square is the Wyndham Soleil Danang. The first of four towers has been completed, but it hasn’t opened yet. The second tower appears to have stalled, so this beachfront section looks blighted with two incomplete projects on the same corner.
There are meant to be four towers here, but it will be annoying for residents and hotel guests of the other towers if they are going to build each tower individually.
M Hotel Danang
M Hotel Danang (also known as the Garden City Da Nang) is a garden-covered hotel on My An Beach. This hotel was nearly finished when I visited and it is scheduled to open this year.
It’s hard to get buildings covered in foliage right, but this one looks good.
Holiday Inn And Suites Danang Waterfront
Holiday Inn And Suites Danang Waterfront (formerly The Premier Sky Residences) is another bulky seafront project that remains unfinished.
Holiday Beach Danang Hotel & Resort
The mysterious Holiday Beach Danang Hotel & Resort briefly opened (and hotel booking sites still list it), but even when it opened, it didn’t look quite finished. This is at the “An Thuong Tourist Streets” area, which has become a digital nomad hotspot.
Ariyana Beach Resort & Suites
Every year when I ride along the coast, I wonder how The Ariyana Beach Resort & Suites is progressing. This project has been under construction for years, and when you approach it, it almost looks finished.
There were workers on site, so maybe next year it will finally be finished.
Sunshine Royal / South Beach Danang
The plot of land that was going to be South Beach Danang, then the DAP Tourism Area Project, then Sunshine Royal, is still a big empty block of land.
I happened to be driving by in a taxi from Hoi An to Danang, and I saw a ceremonial tent set up in the middle of the land. I snapped a photo from the back of the taxi to remind myself to look it up.
I went back by motorbike a few days later, and the tent was gone.
Da Nang Diamond Residence
Diagonally opposite the South Beach area is Da Nang Diamond Residence (formerly BRG Danang Beach Plaza). This project features 3 x 36-floor towers in the northernmost corner of the BRG Danang Golf Resort. The site was a hive of activity when I visited.

FPT City
FPT City is a new urban area in South Danang.
FPT is an information technology service company from Vietnam, and one of the completed buildings is the FPT Complex.
Residential towers include FPT Plaza 1 and FPT Plaza 2.
FPT Plaza 3 is under construction.
Most of the land is still undeveloped, so I will check back on this site whenever I am in the area.
